Psalm 51 reveals the penitent and humble heart of David and his recognition of the unfailing, unrelenting love and mercy of his God. David rose out of the ashes of guilt and shame into the arena of grace and joy. We can too if we choose to practically apply these truths to our lives.

Jesus makes reference to the greatest commandment in Mark 12:29-30, quoting directly from Deuteronomy 6:4-5 addressing the question of which commandment is the greatest? In Deuteronomy 6 we find God establishing that He is One. Not only do we see an allusion to the Trinity but more specifically the scriptures proves that Jesus in YHWH make up two persons in the Trinity and are in fact one. The foundational truth of YHWH and Jesus being one should shape the ways in which we choose to express our love for God. However, many have decided they would rather love God on their own terms instead of the ways in which He has commanded.
