Psalm 149 is one of the last of the Hallelujah Psalms. It encourages us to "praise the Lord in times of blessing, suffering and in times of warfare. In other words, praise to our amazing God should continually be on our lips.

We can tend to have a hard time accepting ourselves for who we are when we compare ourselves to others, focusing on our weakness and limitations. We can feel like we don't measure up. God says something different in Psalm 139 about us, we are not an accident, He made us to be who we are, a one of a kind with value and purpose.

Psalm 139 is considered to be one of David's best songs. It reassures us that no one's existence is an accident, brings God ever so near, making Him real and personal. We are His creation and we matter to our Creator.

This is a Psalm of lament. The children of Israel once enjoyed peace, liberty and freedom, now they are experiencing hardship, agony and the pain of captivity by the Babylonians. They had fallen away from the living God and He had allowed their defenses to be broken down and used a pagan nation to bring them to repentance. Our God has the power to deliver us, if we choose to follow Him, He can and will break every chain and bring us into life and freedom.

Psalm 121 is a beautiful reminder that as we travel through life's journey on earth as pilgrims, we seek and look forward to another country. Here we experience exhausting, difficult and sometimes even dangerous situations but as we press on, we lift up our eyes to the heavens and are strengthened and assured that the One who awaits us there also walks with us here.

Psalm 116 has much to say to us about what should be in our hearts regarding the Lord. The Psalmist declares first, his love for the Lord who saw him through distress, sorrow and grief. Second, he gives praise and thanks to the Lord for seeing him through it all.
