Paul addresses the issue of the Corinthian believers taking their brothers to court and rebukes them for doing so. A Christian's approach to conflict resolution should be with a desire to advance God's kingdom and not for selfish gain.

The Corinthian church was proud of its hands-off approach to the sins of those being committed within their community of faith, which were in direct conflict with God's standards laid out in His Word. Paul instructs them of the seriousness and importance of administering discipline and extending love for the health of the church and the glory of God.

The Apostle Paul encouraged the Christians in Corinth and encourages us to follow his example as he followed Christ. In order to be a faithful servant of Jesus we need to acquire a servant's heart, avoid spiritual arrogance and anticipate discipline and hardship along the way. This is the only way to truly live!

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible has a lot to say about obedience. Deuteronomy 11:26-28 sums it up like this...Obey and you will be blessed, disobey and you will be cursed.

Success is determined by God's power not ours. God uses an ordinary man in Gideon to accomplish an incredible task that he never could have accomplished had he not decided to obey and trust in an extraordinary God. God wants to use you!

Many of the Christians in Corinth were a mess even though they had experienced being rescued and redeemed through salvation in Jesus. They continued to hang out doing some of the deplorable activities they had been delivered from. Paul encouraged them, as he does us, to turn from our mess and become a living message of the One who called them and us out of the "dumpster life" into a life of holiness.

Outward clothing can make a statement about us, what we believe, how we feel, etc. Our inward wardrobe, spiritually speaking also reveals what we believe, how we feel, who our lives belong to by the characteristics we live out. We need to take inventory of the closet of our heart and get rid of every piece that is of the old nature and put on those pieces that bring life, peace and joy, the ones that Jesus has provided for us. What's in your closet?

Finding rest in Jesus requires much more than taking some time off. Jesus asks us to learn from Him and to be led by Him. While that begins with sitting at His feet, it's meant to be a life long process of abiding in Him.
