Now here in chapter nine he uses himself as an example of what he has been talking about, what it means and what it looks like to give up his personal freedoms for the sake of the Gospel and for others.

As we enter into a new year, we are are reminded from Paul's letter to his protégé Timothy, in 2 Timothy 3 that yes, perilous times will come, in fact they are here but we are to be encouraged because of the goodness and sovereignty of God. We must not allow ourselves to be diminished by whatever difficult and challenging circumstances may come. We are to take God at His Word, live out His Word, love and serve Him more passionately and also love and serve one another in the power of the Holy Spirit.

God is...The Original Definition of Good. He is good in and of Himself and is good all the time. Even when our circumstances are difficult and we can't understand why we may be experiencing a certain hardship, we can trust and rest in God because we know He is good!

Paul opens this chapter addressing Christians who are married to Christians and the sacredness of their union, and also gives counsel to the unmarried. Bottom line, whether you are married or unmarried, your are to live your life committed to putting God on display, and keeping in the forefront of your heart and mind that "you are not our own."
