Elijah sets the example for us as one who faithfully served and walked with God to the very end. He provides encouragement to those of us who know that when we leave this earthly place, we will one day be in our heavenly home with our Lord. The question is, what are we doing in the meantime? Hopefully, as Elijah, we will resolve to keep serving Him and walking in faith until He takes us home to be with Him.

The judgment of God is not something we like or want to hear about. However, it is necessary for us to hear about it and understand God's intention for it. God came and spoke to Elijah in a still small voice and let him know He wasn't through with him. He had much more for him to do. There are times when we find ourselves in a cave of discouragement and depression, but if we listen for His still small voice, put our eyes on Him, we will experience hope, strength and encouragement in knowing that God is not through with us.

However, He seized those moments and people were left changed because of it. Jesus is calling His followers to do the same.
