Pleasing God means that we love Him to the extent that it makes a difference in the way we act, the way we think and the way we live. It is the cross of Christ that changes everything. Paul tells us we have forgiveness and redemption that puts us on the road to transformation. It creates a new people, a new citizenship that supersedes all human and geographical boundaries.

The Christians in Colossae were a part of a magnificent movement of God because the message they believed and embraced was the seed of truth that was springing up with rich fruit all over the world. It is just as true today as it was in A.D. 61. Following Christ, makes despair obsolete and a life of futility, disappear.

Psalm 149 is one of the last of the Hallelujah Psalms. It encourages us to "praise the Lord in times of blessing, suffering and in times of warfare. In other words, praise to our amazing God should continually be on our lips.

We can tend to have a hard time accepting ourselves for who we are when we compare ourselves to others, focusing on our weakness and limitations. We can feel like we don't measure up. God says something different in Psalm 139 about us, we are not an accident, He made us to be who we are, a one of a kind with value and purpose.

Psalm 139 is considered to be one of David's best songs. It reassures us that no one's existence is an accident, brings God ever so near, making Him real and personal. We are His creation and we matter to our Creator.

This is a Psalm of lament. The children of Israel once enjoyed peace, liberty and freedom, now they are experiencing hardship, agony and the pain of captivity by the Babylonians. They had fallen away from the living God and He had allowed their defenses to be broken down and used a pagan nation to bring them to repentance. Our God has the power to deliver us, if we choose to follow Him, He can and will break every chain and bring us into life and freedom.
